Products


From this screen, you can add/edit products in Just Billing app. In this section we will briefly discuss about:


  1. How to add a product?
  2. How to edit a product?


1. How to add a product?


There are 2 ways of creating a product in JB Android :


a) From Dash board - From the Dash board tap on the Product icon to open the Products entry page.  (see figure 1)

b) From Masters - Another option to create the product is from Menu > Masters > Products as shown in the below screen shot. (see figure 2)

How To add a product ?

  • Tap on the add icon (see figure 3)
  • Enter Product Name, Product Code, HSN Code
  • Select Category, Department, Unit, Brand, Product type if any.  (see figure 4)
  • Check or un check the buttons for Allow negative stock, Active, Return allowed, Purchase item, Sales item.
  • Is product applicable to all branches.  (see figure 5)

( Mapping to ALL branches will synchronize the product to back office and the product will be downloaded to other stores of your organization. )
       ( Mapping to your branch will synchronize the product to back office but the product will not be downloaded to other stores. )

  • Add Product description if any and then save.
  • Tap on Camera icon to browse and add a product image and Save.
  • From Pricing you can add price catalog of the product you are adding.
  • After saving the new product click on pricing.
  • Select Price catalog
  • Enter unit price
  • Select Tax group, Discount rate
  • Check or un check for Tax inclusive and fixed price and then save to update the price of the product.  
  • Then Save  (see figure 6)

In the above screen, mandatory fields will be displayed in red.


a. Product name: It refers to the name of the product.


b. Product Code: Its a unique identifier for a product e.g it may be unique id or machine-readable bar code that helps the item to be tracked. Product code works as a primary key so there can be duplicate product names but each will have a unique product code.


c. HSN Code : Its a unique identifier for a product that is assigned to any product by Manufacturer.


d. Parent product: In some cases, a store may buy certain items in bigger units, but while selling them, the store may break it down into smaller units and sell each unit as one product. The bigger unit will be considered as the parent product.


e. Category: Products are organized by their categories. There can be different categories of products for example: Coca Cola Maaza, Sprite etc, can be categorized as soft drinks. By default application provides two categories - default and modifier.


NOTE: A new category can be created from the Product Categories page in back office or Android app.


f. Unit price: It refers to the standard price of the item (without tax and discount).


g. Unit: It refers to the unit of measure for a product : Generally unit can be defined as Standard unit or system of units by means of which a quantity of an item is accounted for and expressed.


h. Brand: Usually most of the products are associated with some brands. In this field, users can select the brand of the product which is predefined in the back office.


i. Product type: It refers to the state a product is available in. In a restaurant products are usually available in finished state; big stores may want to maintain/track some products in semi-finished state, or as raw materials, etc. Below screen shows different types of products that can be set for a product.


j.Manged by: A “batch number” is a unique identifying number (or set of letters and numbers) assigned to one product batch which can be used to identify each individual finished product made in that batch. When you assign batch numbers and put them on the products, you can just look at the product label and know immediately from which batch that particular item came.


Any products that have different serial or batch numbers such products can be managed by Manage by where for products with serial numbers will be marked as Manage by as " Serial ". For those products which are managed by Batch then those will be marked as Manage by as " Batch "

For products Managed by Serial will have a unique serial number for every SKU of the product. Similarly for the products managed by batch numbers then those will have Batch number of the product. If you have same product with two different batch numbers then you can enter lot size of all the batches of product for managing the inventory.


i. Allow Negative Stock: This option should be checked for items where you wanted to sell the items even if you don't haves stock.

j. Active: A product must be active for it to be displayed in billing screen. The icon '' acts as the notification if the product is active or not.


k. Return allowed: This option should be checked for items that store will decide to return back from customers after a sale is made.


l. Purchase Item: This option should be checked for items for items which are purchase item.


m. Sales Item: This option should be checked for items which are sales item.


n. Product description:  In this field user can add a description for product for example if a packet of Gulab Jamun consists of 4 pieces, user can add a description such as four pieces per packet. Description is an optional field.


2. How to edit a product?


To edit a product:


  • Select a product, and click on Edit.  (see figure 8)
  • Any changes in Price Catalog the click on Pricing and then Edit.
  • Save once editing is done.

3. How to add product pricing?


  • Select a product, and click on Edit and Then Pricing.  (see figure 9)
  • Select Price catalog ( For purchase select standard purchase price catalog and Similarly for sales select standard sales price )
  • Enter unit price  (see figure 10)
  • Enter maximum retail price
  • Select Tax group if any
  • Select Discount rate if any
  • Check or un check for Tax inclusive and Fixed price as applicable
  • Save once all details are entered.
